Hinged Plate Fasteners
Steel plates bent into a U-shape and connected with hinge pins. Allow easy belt removal and rejoining. High tensile strength.
Clipper Fasteners
Metal clips inserted into slots/holes in belt ends. Quick installation but less holding strength. Common types are plate clips, spring clips, and wire clips.
Solid Plate Lacing
Flat solid steel plates with staggered slots that are lace joined using special high strength lace material. Forms a rigid splice.
Flexible Spiral Lacing
Interwoven spiral steel coils inserted through slots and twisted to lock into place. Provides a flexible splice.
Rivets
Hollow or solid metal rivets inserted through aligned holes in belt ends. Creates a permanent flat rigid splice.
Wire Hooks
Formed wire hooks inserted into mating slots/holes in belt ends and twisted to fasten. Reversible connection.
Sewing
Belt ends sewn together with cotton, nylon or kevlar stitching in various patterns like zig-zag or diamond.
Cold Bonding
Special adhesives or cement used to adhere belt ends together. Allows some flexibility.
Pin and Bushing
Built-in flexible pins in belt ends inserted into mating bushings for easy joining.
Choosing the right fastener type allows creating secure splices tailored for the belt type, tensions, and application conditions.
